First Nationwide Bank came to Santa Cruz County by buying San Francisco Federal Savings and Loan in 1996. First Nationwide bought California Federal in 1997. First Nationwide took on the California Federal name and also kept the First Nationwide headquarters in San Francisco. California Federal was bought by Citibank in 2002.
