Gadgetbox Studios is the home of producer/engineer Andy Zenczak, and is a full-featured recording studio on the west side of Santa Cruz. Over 250 local and regional artists have recorded here since the studio opened its doors in 2001, many of which have seen regional and national successes. The website has a great collection of artist links, including artwork and mp3's that testify to the studio's popularity and great sound.
In Summer of 2009, Andy Zenczak enlisted the help of project manager/musician Butch Rider to expand a space formerly used by musician Jesse Hiatt into a truly unique recording environment. After many months, the new Gadgetbox Recording Studio emerged as one of the premier recording facilities in Northern California.
With the help of acoustic analyst Bob Hodas, the new facility boasts over 2000 sq ft of acoustically tuned rooms, two control rooms, modern and vintage electric guitars, basses, keyboards, and drums, and a wide variety of analog and digital recording devices to satisfy the needs of many types of musicians.
Gadgetbox 'alumni' have gone on to have their music featured in TV, film, large format commercial FM radio, and have been seen on stage at festivals and shows internationally.
"Gadgetbox has always been about a community environment," says owner Andy Zenczak. "Music is a form of communication, and by nature that means it is meant to be shared. I'm grateful to be able to play a part in elevating the music scene in Santa Cruz."
