History Holy Cross Catholic Church was one of the 21 California missions. It was called Misión la Exaltación de la Santa Cruz. The Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a feast day on September 14 to celebrate the cross as a symbol. The mission was named in honor of this event. The city and county were named for the mission. It is listed as California Historical Landmark 332.
The smaller chapel built in the mission style, was constructed in 1931.
Events The reception hall at Holy Cross Church is a popular meeting room to rent. Wedding parties from other churches often hold the reception at Holy Cross.
Businesses The gift shop is next to the mission style chapel.
