Kmart in Santa Cruz County, has clothing, appliances, sports, gardening, bed items, toys, bath items; shoes, limited automotive items, hardware and even food.  Kmart also has check-cashing service and accepts lay-away plans.  Kmart actually bought Sears in 2004, but kept the name Sears Holding as the parent company name.

Both Sears and Kmart allow shoppers to choose items on-line and have them ready for pick-up at the store if the items are actually in the store.  Not all items on the web site can be sent to the stores for pick-up.  shoppers are cautioned to examine the merchandise they pick-up to see if it is indeed the same item as selected. If you wanted the portable radio that takes AAA batteries, make sure it isn't another (of the same price) that needs 9-volt batteries.

Kmart was the only store in the county that sells their own brand of corn chips.
