Located at 215 Beach Street, La Bahia is designated as a historic building and was originally built by the Seaside Company in 1926 as long term rental luxury suites to accompany the nearby Casa Del Rey Hotel. It is currently used as an apartment complex, and its future is uncertain due to the likely redevelopment of the property. Being built after World War I, the architecture is considered unique for its time period when Santa Cruz was in a rapid state of growth. The apartments were featured in Clint Eastwood's Sudden Impact which was filmed in 1983.
