The Summit Rd. on the sign does NOT lead to Summit Road that connects to Highway 17.Mt. Madonna Road starts in Watsonville near the Salsipuedes Fire Department on Casserly Road. The road takes the name from Mount Madonna (eleviation 1,897 ft.). Mt. Madonna Road starts as two lanes and becomes one lane as it goes up the mountain. Mt. Madonna Road ends in Santa Clara County.

Bike-Friendliness

There are no bike lanes, the terrain is hilly and the traffic is sparse. Be aware the road is one lane most of the way. Bikers do say that the traffic is courteous. Cell phone service is typical of mountain area. Some areas have decent cell phone service and some areas have none.
