The Myth California Pageant was a protest held outside of the Miss California Pageant when it used to be held in Santa Cruz at the Santa Cruz Civic. The first Myth California Pageant was held in 1979 and was organized by Nikki Craft and Ann Simonton. According to Craft's website the protests included, "throwing raw meat on the stage and pouring the blood of raped women across the entry way." [1] The protests continued until the Miss California Pageant left Santa Cruz and moved to San Diego in 1986.
