This bridge is part of the San Lorenzo Riverway.
Officially it is the "San Lorenzo River Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge Project."
It was constructed to assist foot traffic and bicycles at that point of the river. The bridge is 270 feet long and is wide enough for two bicycles.
It is a few yards from the bridge on Highway 1 where bicycles and foot traffic are not allowed.
It received the American Public Works Association (APWA) Monterey Bay Chapter 2010 Project of the Year Award.
