In 1853, nineteen 'brothers' petitioned the Grand Lodge of Masons in California to form a lodge in Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz Lodge No. 38 was founded. San Lorenzo Valley Lodge No. 718 was formed in 1953. In 1994 Santa Cruz Lodge No. 38 merged with San Lorenzo Valley Lodge No. 718 to form the Santa Cruz - San Lorenzo Valley Masonic Lodge No. 38.
