This tome of over 500 pages lists the history of the place names of towns, bodies of water, schools, parks and many other locations. Streets and Businesses are not included in the listings, but otherwise the book is a valuable resource for anyone needing history information. It is indexed, has a large bibliography, and even a pronunciation guide.
The author, was the first librarian at UCSC, and he also wrote a book on Monterey County place names. He died in 1993.
