The Student Health Outreach and Promotion group is a resource for ucsc students to learn more about safer sex, sexuality, and substance usage. Their philosophy towards sex and drug usage essentially follows a harm reduction ideology, though less so when it comes to elicit drug usage. They run a variety of programs on campus:
- Condom Co-op Cheap condoms (2 for 25 cents!)
- Safer Sexcapades A semi-annual erotic/educational dance party
- SlugLove Workshops Workshops about sex and sexuality, often involving bananas
- Free oral HIV testing and counseling
- Student Health Advisory Committee student/staff group which works on campus health initiatives
- Santa Cruz AIDS Walk
- Alcohol and Other Drug Education
