On August 7, 2015, The Krate (@thekrate) posted the following note on Instagram:
After eight wonderful years of doing business here in Santa Cruz we have decided to close The Krate at the end of August. We thank all of you who have supported us over the years and helped make our store what it is. We will be offering 50%-75% starting tomorrow and throughout the rest of the month. We will also be selling some handmade fixtures and furniture as well as a majority of our boombox and ghetto blaster collection. Thanks once again from your friends at The Krate, it has been a pleasure serving you! #TheKrate #eightlongYears #BlessedAndThankful
