Description of Work

Tiki King is a self taught Artist, Musician, and Luthier. He as been producing Art in various forms most of his life, and began exhibiting his art in 2000. He has sold his Paintings, original Art carvings and reproductions world wide. His work has also received mention and / or critical acclaim in several local, National and International publications, listed below. in 1994 he started a business making Tikis an endevor which lead him to the Ukulele. after purchasing one on a whim around 1999, he became obsessed with the instrument, and began designing and building his own. At the time of this writing he has created eighteen of the most successful designs for a leading American Ukulele company, The Magic Fluke Co. and two of his Ukuleles were displayed at the NAMM Museum of Making Music as examples of Art in Lutherie. He has also been commissioned to produce original painted Ukuleles for Celebrities such as Victoria Jackson, The New Cars, and Bette Midler. He currently runs a small Ukulele and Tiki themed shop in Felton, aptly called, Ukuleles Of Felton. He is also a Musician, and has released three solo CD's, and one with his band "The Idol Pleasures" His Santa Cruz music roots go back to the early 80's , when he was in bands such as "No Excuse" a Punk band, and "321" a ska/dance band.
