The Atlas is a cafe nestled in the mysterious east-of-mission part of the Mission. They sell coffee drinks, beer, and an interesting collection of sandwiches, salads, bagels, pastries, and pizzas. And DEAR GOD their tofu sandwich is magical.

Atlas Cafe has a back patio and sometimes there will be people playing music. They've got WiFi -- make sure you ask for an access code.  They use to give out individual slips of paper with WiFI unique access codes on them.

Atlas Cafe was an inspiration for their neighbors in the 1990s, Nora Smith and Loren Bouchard who went on to create the animated television program Bob's Burgers, as well as Sanjay and Craig. The animator, Jay Howell had worked as a barista at Atlas Cafe while he made skateboarding and Mission School-inspired art, comics, and zines. In the late 1990s, the punk band Thee Oh Sees would also hang out at this cafe.
