Church Street is a major street that runs north-south from Hermann Street in the Lower Haight to Randall Street in Noe Valley.
This street is the namesake of the J-Church Muni rail line, which runs along almost its entire length.
Bike-Friendliness
Church Street does not have any bike lanes or sharrows, but most of it is relatively flat. The section between 17th and 22nd is moderately steep (10-15% incline), but the block between 20th and 21st is quite steep, with an incline over 18%.

Public Transportation
While the J line is the only mode of public transit that travels down much of Church Street, several bus routes intersect it:
- 22 Fillmore - from 16th Street northward.
- 24 Divisadero - at 30th Street
- 33 Stanyan - at 18th Street
- 48 Quintara - at 24th Street
The Church Muni station is at Church and Market, and hosts the K-Ingleside, L-Taraval, M-Ocean View, T-Third and F Market & Wharves rail lines.
