History
The alley is noted by some to be the center of what used to be a fresh water lagoon. The lagoon, if it existed, ceased to exist at least a century ago.
The Alley shares a wall with the brightly colored Mission Thrift store. The Alley was reclaimed in the mid 1990's by an artist community to be used as a canvas for murals. The murals change from time to time. Sometimes the murals are the target of local tagging, in most cases the murals are not touched up as they will be painted over anyway.
Community
The artist community goes by the name Clarion Alley Mural Project and is usually shortened to C.A.M.P. C.A.M.P has worked with multiple local and international artists. C.A.M.P. Has worked with local art organizations like Intersection for the Arts, and the San Francisco Art Institute.
