The main idea of 1967 was to invoke peace; this summer changed the area forever and since then it has been seen as very "hippie."

The Haight-Ashbury District is full of a variety of restaurants for all types of eaters. Due to the "hippie" nature of the area, there is an abundance of vegan and gluten-free restaurants that welcome all eaters to join. The nightlife is just as popular as the food, for there are many different cocktail lounges that bistros can enjoy. One popular cocktail lounge is The Aub Zam Zam, which is a vintage space that has been open since 1941. Aub Zam Zam prides itself on its authenticity to the time that it was opened and is a great place for visitors to take in the history of the area.

Amoeba Records is located on Haight Street and is a record store that has been in San Fransisco since 1990. The store is a large open concept with records and CDs lining the wall. Tourists come from all over to be thrown into the past by stepping into the doors. Amoeba Records prides itself on being independently owned with locations only in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Hollywood. The store has frequent concerts and is the main stop for many artists to stop.
