Illuminate the Arts is a Larkspur-based nonprofit that works to create large scale public art projects. It was created to create the Bay Lights project and is also working on the Lightrail project. It was started by Ben Davis who used to run Words Pictures Ideas, a company that does PR/marketing for large scale civic projects (According to Wikipedia, "The Bay Lights was conceived by Ben Davis of Words Pictures Ideas, a public relations company that has a contract with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for publicizing the construction of the new span of the Bay Bridge between Yerba Buena Island and Oakland.").
