Polk Street runs North-South from Aquatiic Park to Market St, after which it is 10th St.

Currently the Polk Streetscape Project  is being managed by the SFMTA and is part of a repaving and redesign of the street.

Bike-Friendliness

There is bike infrastructure along the entire length of Polk St although the quality is highly variable. With a separated contraflow lane protected by plants and a curb to sharrows in the door zone in which cars, taxis and trucks are often stopped or double parked. Bike route number 25 runs along Polk St.

It is a main North-South corridor for bicyclists through San Francisco and has many intersections with high injury rates for pedestrians and cyclists.

Wheelchair accessible sidewalks which dedicated disabled street parking.

Public Transportation

The 19 Muni travels almost the entire length of the street. The 10, 12, 5 buses also have stops on or within a block of Polk St.
