Roleplaying games are events, generally episodic and on-going, in which people get together and portray characters with certain skills or talents. Broadly split into live action, in which people act out the roles, and tabletop, in which descriptions of actions are stated, some are nearly improvisational theater with people creating stories, while others are very bound to hard rules and specific mechanisms to determine the outcome of actions (commonly dice, but cards and other methods are used as well).

There are also several roleplaying games set in San Francisco that may be played here or elsewhere, using the city as a setting for the stories that are played out.

World of Darkness

Two major global chronicles are played in local games. They are part of a larger game that is played in cities around the world.

The Camarilla's chronicle is currently under domain CA051D, the "Domain of Myst" (website). They run Requiem, Lost, Awakening and Forsaken venues. Prior to the Domain of Myst, the local domain was CA033, The Dragon's Coils (archived website).

The vampire centric One World by Night has the local chapter "Always Comes Evening" (website).
