The San Francisco International Airport — known colloquially by its IATA airport code SFO — is not really located in San Francisco, but about 13 miles to the south in unincorporated San Mateo County adjacent to the cities of Millbrae and San Bruno. The airport services 46 airlines, which fly nonstop to over 90 cities (30 of them abroad). Free Wifi access began on August 14, 2010.

The airport is accessible by public transportation via BART, which has a stop adjacent to the international terminal and also at the Caltrain station in Millbrae. Several SamTrans buses also serve SFO and go to San Francisco, and various locations in the peninsula, all the way down to Palo Alto.

The other airports close to San Francisco are Oakland International Airport and San Jose International Airport.

There are 6 Peet's Coffee stands inside the airport in various terminals.
