The Purple House is a resident operated non-profit cooperative house. It's located at 966 Oak Street in the Lower Haight and is a 10-unit property.
The property was acquired by the Community Land Trust in May of 2012, saving the cooperative from probably eviction. The house was slated to enter public foreclosure auction in April 2012, but the Land Trust closed escrow before the auction took place. The mortgage was provided by Clearinghouse CDFI, and additional funding came from the Land Trust itself as well as from individual lenders who provided short-term loans.
