The West Portal Muni station is located in — you guessed it — the West Portal neighborhood. It's where the L-Taraval line splits from the K-Ingleside and M-Ocean View lines and heads west to the zoo. It is walking distance from the recently renovated West Portal Branch Library.

Between January 29, 2007 and sometime in January 2008, Muni trains don't run between this station and Castro station (therefore not servicing Forest Hill station at all) after 9 pm on weekdays (including Fridays!) due to the Metro Improvement Project.
