Located next to Maloney field, SFSU has 14 outdoor tennis courts for use by students and faculty on a first come, first served basis and are open to the public by reservation. Weekend and holiday use are by reservation only. They are open from dawn to dusk and made up of 2 singles and 12 doubles courts. All court use requires the permission of the Campus Recreation Department Division of Student Affairs.

The Mashouf Wellness Center is a large fitness center located in the southwest corner of the campus near the SFSU softball field. The center has multiple facilities including a climbing wall, the MAC gym, a two court gym, the Natatorium, fitness studios and fitness areas.
Various services are available at the center including massage services, an outdoor resource center, personal trainers, swim lessons and American Red Cross safety training and certifications.
Memberships are required to use the facilities. Most students pay a rec and wellness local fee as part of their tuition and a membership is included in this fee. Various membership types are available covering students, faculty and staff, alumni and investors and all members can sponsor other individuals.
The climbing wall is 41 feet high and has various color-coded routes depending on your climbing level. Free shoe, harness and chalk rentals are provided and belay classes are given free of charge.
The MAC gym is used for basketball, indoor soccer, badminton and various other sports. Special events can also be presented there provided a reservation is made in advance with tables, chairs and microphones available for use.
The Natatorium is the campus aquatic center. It has two heated pools, a sauna, a hot tub, deck showers and locker rooms. Various water accessories are available for your enjoyment. Reservations for special events can be made providing they fall outside normal operating hours.
The large activity pool is primarily used for pool lounging, swim lessons and aqua Zumba classes. It is 0-4 feet deep and kept at 81 degrees.
The lap pool is 25 meters long, has 6 lanes, is 7-10 feet deep and used for serious lap swimmers.
The hot tub holds up to 24 people, has adjustable jets and is kept at an average of 101 degrees. Time is limited to 30 minutes or less.
The Sauna is a wet steam version providing non-chlorinated water to pour over hot rocks. It holds 10 people and recommends a time limit of 20 minutes per session.
Three fitness studios are located inside the center. Studio 122 on the first floor, 206 and 207 on the second. 122 and 206 have hardwood floors with 207 having a padded floor. Cardio kickboxing, yoga, Zumba and cycling classes are just a few of the 30 classes per week offered. Each studio is available to students and faculty if no classes are in session.
There are also five main fitness areas available. The cardio area, strength area, indoor track, functional training area and racquetball courts.
The cardio area is located on the 2nd floor and has a large variety of cardio equipment available for use including stepmills, bikes, ergonometers, rowers, ellipticals and treadmills. Cable TV, internet access and an app to track your fitness goals are available.
The strength area, also located on the second floor, houses the campus free weights, plate loaded machines and various other strength training equipment. There is a deadlift platform, multiple dumbbell areas, adjustable benches and mats available.
The indoor track is on the second floor and circles the MAC gym. It has 3 purple run/walk lanes which change direction daily and 6 laps equal a mile. During special events in the MAC gym, it can be used as an excellent elevated observation point for the event.
The Functional Training Area is located on the first floor of the center with floor to ceiling windows proving a great view of the campus. A mix of cardio, strength and stretching equipment is provided. TRX equipment, resistance bands, BOSU balls, dumbbells, kettlebells and medicine balls are just a few of the products available for use.
There are two racquetball courts provided, one of which can be arranged as a squash ball court.

The Main gym on campus is located just north of the quad, in-between the Student Health Services building and the Department of Computer Sciences. This complex features the main gym used by the SFSU NCAA basketball and volleyball teams with seating for 1,000 people. There is a smaller gym with another basketball court and is used for various athletic activities and special events. Martial arts tournaments, assemblies and graduation celebrations are also held there. The complex also houses a 25-yard, indoor heated pool with 6 swim lanes and seating for 290 people.
