What do you know about Become a Friendly Visiting Volunteer?

One hour a week can change a life!

Senior Connections, a program of SASI, is a friendly visiting program that pairs isolated older adults in the Skokie, Evanston, Rogers Park, and the North Shore communities with caring volunteers. As a visitor, you meet with your new senior friend for one hour weekly to go for walk, sit and talk, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea together, or even go out to eat or shopping.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application, attend a volunteer orientation and training, provide 2 personal references, and have a background check. A complimentary background check is provided. Families, students, couples, friends, and even pets are encouraged to volunteer together. Must be at least 18 years old to visit one on one with a senior.

Once matched, we will personally introduce you to the senior and then the two of you will decide the day and time to meet each week. Staff and additional training are available for ongoing support.
