The Assistance League is a national organization, the chapters of which practice locally-focused philanthropy. The projects of the San Luis Obispo chapter include:
- Homeless Collaboration - helps homeless children get new clothes for school
- Operation School Bell - helps homeless children get books (Operation Bookshelf) and new clothes for school
- Sue's Stars - helps homeless children who are too old to qualify for Operation School Bell get new clothes for school
The San Luis Obispo chapter is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that was founded in 1996.
