The Master Food Preserver Program of the University of California Cooperative Extension educates the community about safe home food preservation. This education is done at free public classes, through newspaper and newsletter articles, and at information booths at farmers markets and County fairs.

The Master Food Preserver Program staffs a free hotline every Wednesday from 1:00–3:00pm, at which you can speak with a certified MFP regarding your questions of food safety and home food preservation. Call (805) 781-1429 to speak with a certified MFP about food safety; canning, freezing, or drying of fruits & vegetables; pickling; and making jams & jellies.
