*Listed in the 1860 census in the town of Sonoma, living as a laborer, in the household of William Green *Taxed by the I.R.S. in 1866 on the Schooner Marguerite, 198 1/2 *In 1872 in Sonoma witnessed the will of Thomas Fawcett *Listed in the 1880 census in the town of Sonoma as "James H Ovendale, age 49, born VA/Ireland/Ireland, Single, Lumberman" *Buried in the Akers family plot at Mountain Cemetery with a tombstone which reads : "Capt J. Harry Ovendale, died March 10, 1881, aged 51 years"
