CLIFF'S NOTES LIFE: I was born & raised in Sonoma. In fact, my folks still live in the 2-story Victorian on Third Street East where I grew up. Back in the day when nary a thought was given to children walking to school on their own, I would skid-daddle to Prestwood with my friends for kindergarten. The next year we braved Napa Street and walked to St. Francis Solano for grade school and junior high. By the time high school rolled around, I was attending Justin-Siena High School in Napa and managed to finnagle a ride with Larry Murphy, who became my art teacher my senior year. In my junior year of high school, I studied abroad for a year with AFS (American Field Service) in Straumen, Norway and attended Erikstad Vidergaende Skole in Fauske in their cooking line. After graduating from Justin-Siena, I attended Sonoma State University, graduating in English Literature with a minor in Art History after studying abroad for 3 years in Florence, Italy. Though I've left Sonoma a number of times for a number of different reasons, I've always returned and I still call Sonoma home with my husband David and our daughter Gretchen. My folks, sister, and various aunts & uncles all still live in Sonoma. not only do we all live nearby, we all actually really like each other!
I am a 3rd generation State Farm agent in Sonoma, a history that began with my grandpa, Charlie Deenihan, in 1953 when he put out his insurance "shingle" on Broadway. Thirty-four years later my mom, Jill kamahele, became a State Farm agent in Sonoma on Broadway. Twenty years later she retired, and now I, too, have hung out my proverbial shingle on Broadway in Sonoma as a State Farm agent.
