The evening of 8/15 there were reports that people were headed towards the store amid sporadic looting.

The evening of 8/16, the store was barricaded with shopping carts. Inside the entrance, other merchandise was stacked as a further barricade.

On 8/5, a 22-year-old black man named John Crawford was shot and killed by police at a Walmart in Beavercreek, Ohio, outside of Dayon.
