The Bronte to Coogee Aquatic Reserve extends, not surprisingly from Bronte Beach to Coogee Beach. In all areas of the Reserve it is prohibited to collect mulluscs, shells, squid and starfish etc. South of Bronte to Shark Point, line fishing is allowed but no taking of groper or spearfishing allowed south of Shark Point or in any of the Gordons Bay area where Blue Groper live. Map and regulations are listed on the NSW Government Office of Environment & Heritage website.
South of Gordons Bay fishing is allowed. It is illegal to collect protected marine life in Aquatic Reserves or to fish or spearfish in the prohibited areas but it is difficult to police illegal activity. To report illegal activity in the Aquatic Reserve call 1800 043 536.
