Volunteering

The Basic Principles of the Red Cross are:

  • Humanity

  • Impartiality

  • Neutrality

  • Independence

  • Voluntary Service

  • Unity

  • Universality

The Mission of the Red Cross is:

To prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Volunteering:

There is no single profile of a Red Cross volunteer. No matter what your religion, race, gender, education, income or age, chances are there is someone like you already volunteering with the Red Cross. Some volunteers like to deploy around the country, and some never leave home.  But what we all have in common is a desire to help others in our community to prepare for disasters and emergencies, to provide relief to victims whose lives have been greatly impacted by a disaster, or to help raise money to support our efforts.  All training is provided free of charge.  Find out how to get started volunteering HERE.

Classes:

The Red Cross offers both Disaster & Emergency Services classes, which enable you to help provide basic relief services in a time of disaster; and Health & Safety classes, which prepare people to save lives with techniques such as performing CPR and using automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Last year, nearly 11 million people enrolled in American Red Cross health and safety courses. Find out more about class offerings HERE.
