Robert Olen Butler (FSU professor, American fiction writer, 1993 Pulitzer Prize winner for short-story collection A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain)

Doug Marlette (FSU graduate, drew political cartoons for The Florida Flambeau from 1969 to 1971 and illustrated 1970-71 FSU yearbook including a wraparound cover,​ cartoonist for the Tallahassee Democrat, 1988 Pulitzer Prize winner)

Mark Mustian (Attorney with Nabors, Giblin & Nickerson; City Commissioner, City of Tallahassee - not seeking re-election in 2012) Mustian wrote the novel The Gendarme.

Jeff Shaara (raised in Tallahassee, FSU graduate, American novelist, son of Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Shaara, wrote Gods and Generals and many others)
