James S. Rickards High School was ranked 49th in Newsweek's list of 1,000 top high schools in 2009​.  Since 1994, it has hosted Tallahassee's only International Baccalaureate​ (IB) program.  Rickards is know for its marching band and Mu Alpha Theta math team.  Notable graduates of Richards include rapper T-Pain.  Its student population is approximately 1,300.
