Parking is pretty expensive in the city. Don't be suprised if you have to pay 20$ a day for a spot downtown.
You can use http://stopfinder.com to find the closest, cheapest parking lots (as well as transit stops) close to your destination.
There are a number of Highways in and around the city.
And there are Road Closures & Maintenance that happen to help maintain the city's infrastructure or due to an event e.g. RIDE for Heart or Caribana Parade.
To keep a car on the road legally, you will have to go through the Ministry of Transportation and the Vehicle Licensing.
