Let's use the power of Torontopedia! to help find some lost Toronto pets!

When you first lose/find a pet, here are some practical first steps you should take: first, see if on the Toronto Humane Society's Lost Pets page the animals is listed. If you have digital photos of your pet, you can email these to a THS representative. Second, post flyers within a 3-block radius from your home and talk to your neighbours directly.

Third, in addition to the Torontopedia, post ads in Craig's List. Also, and I don't know whether this is truly helpful, you may consider, for a few days, perhaps, leaving food outside your door, just in case your pet comes back when you're away (and this way, you may attract other lost pets—you never know). Keep in mind, also, that if your pet is largely white in color, s/he may darken considerably after being outdoors for awhile. I've heard of white cats turning distinctly grey, so keep that in mind when reporting descriptions.

In addition, it helps to be proactive if you have an in-door pet, and so you may want to consider having your pet implanted with a small microchip. Although you cannot track a missing pet with a microchip, a person will likely contact a local animal humane society, shelter, animal hospital, etc., and one of the first things they can do is scan your pet to see if there's a microchip implanted, which will have all the relevant information to return your pet to you!
