Printing on Demand also known as Publishing on Demand (POD) allows people to use a template, often Microsoft word, enter their the book they wrote, convert it to a PDF, upload it to a POD company's website, and have the book printed right away. POD takes away the usual roadblocks to new and small run authors which many experience going the traditional big book publishing company route.
LuLu is the best known POD company online, recently Amazon has been improving their POD offerings.
Now Toronto has it's own Publishing on Demand company. They have just started this year. Hopefully local Toronto Writers will embrace this new option.
