On the afternoon of Saturday August 17 2013, hundreds of people from across the Greater Toronto Area gathered in front of Queen's Park and held a Rally in support of the democratic process in Egypt and again the recent Military Coup there.

There wasn't an exact name for the event, but calling it the Stop The Massacre In Egypt Rally seems to be the best thing to call it.

The Egyptian Military has indeed been killing hundreds of civilians who are protesting against their coup. Local people

Many people took turns at the Mic, not only Torontonians of Egyptian Descent, but local Turks and Bangladeshis as well.

The day before in Alexandria, a Toronto Pharmacist, Amr Kassem, 26, who was visiting Family in Egypt was shot dead. And local Toronto Area Filmmaker John Greyson who was in Egypt doing some humanitarian work was arrested and detained by the Military there. These two facts made the Rally less abstract and provided everyone with a direct connection with the events over there.
