List of names of ALL 52 Victims of Gunfire in Toronto during 2005
1 & 2. On Jan. 21, friends Justin Hodge, 20 and Damian Muirhead, 22, were shot to death at Apt. 313, 180 Niagara St. Charged with first-degree murder in their deaths are Bryan Tomlinson, 24, and Roberto Ceballo, 19.
3. On Feb. 11, Szilvia Veres, 35, was shot to death in the underground parking garage at 15 Brookbanks Dr. Her 47-year-old husband was injured. Her former boyfriend, John Kovacs, 52, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder, but later committed suicide.
4. On Feb. 12, Orlando Grundy, 22, was shot to death with ‘’multiple undetermined firearms'’ in Apt. 1308 at 2777 Kipling Ave., in Rexdale. Two other males, 24 and 25, were wounded.
5. On Feb. 15, Selvakumar Sellaiah, 26, was shot to death in the 17th floor stairwell of 275 Bleecker St.
6. On Feb. 28, Kerlon Adoulphus Charles, 24, was shot to death in Apt. 506 at 6000 Bathurst St. Charged with second-degree murder is Psalm Eli Allen, 28.
7. On March 5, Ioan Corin Baicu, 32, was shot to death in a vehicle parked in the driveway of 58 Talwood Dr. His friend and suspected killer, Iani Gusita, 24, later broke into the home and committed suicide.
8. On March 25, William Kim, 30, was shot to death at 40 Gerrard St. E. Robbery is suspected.
9. On April 13, Wolfgang Droege, 55, a white supremacist, was shot to death in the second floor hallway of 2 North Dr., Scarborough. Charged with second-degree murder in his death is Keith Deroux, 44.
10. On April 18, Joseph Westley Jones, 18, was shot to death on the southeast corner of Jameson Avenue and Leopold Street. The man suspected of killing him, Nathaniel ‘’Nate Dog'’ Leslie, 22, was murdered May 5.
11. On April 24, Livette Olivea Miller, 26, a single mother of four, was shot to death at the Prestige Palace Nightclub at 9 Milvan Dr. Six men, ranging in age from 24 to 40, were injured.
12. On May 5, Nathaniel ‘’Nate Dog'’ Leslie, 22, was shot to death in front of the House of Lancaster, a strip club at 1215 Bloor St. W.
13. On May 8, Sasha Bailey, 22, was shot to death in front of the Pizza Pizza at 780 Danforth Ave. On March 5 and 6, 2006, police arrested and charged with first-degree murder three men: Rutal Hankey, 25, Waheb Almaktari, 24 and his 25-year-old brother, Walid.
14. On May 14, Muluka Hassan Ali, 23, mother of a two-year-old boy, was shot to death at 573 Church St. as she tried to leave her common-law husband, Amin Kassim, 31. He has been charged with first-degree murder.
15. On May 15, Sung Woo ‘’Jack'’ Lee, 36, was gunned down on the sidewalk across from 7 Lee Centre Dr., after spending the evening at a karaoke bar.
16. On May 18, Champagne Lewis, 25, was discovered near her car with multiple gunshot wounds in a park opposite 85 Galloway Rd.
17. On June 12, Duane Carlos David, 33 was gunned down in a laneway at 2879 Danforth Ave., behind the Pataya Cafe. Charged with first-degree murder is a 16-year-old male.
18. On June 24, Jason Thomas Joseph, 26, was shot to death by two men on bikes on a public walkway in front of 79 Gosford Blvd. Two other men, age 21 and 27, were wounded. Police believe the killing was a case of mistaken identity.
19. On June 29, Nageeb Craig ‘’Jarvis'’ Henry, 22, was shot in the head south of the Wallace Emmerson Community Centre at 1260 Dufferin St.
20. On July 6, Matthew George Wilmot, 17, was gunned down in the driveway of 2765 Islington Ave.
21. On July 19, Shamari Belnavis, 20, was gunned down, execution-style, in the courtyard of a townhouse complex at 109 Humber Blvd. A 19-year-old male was wounded.
22. On July 30, Leroy Whittaker, 46, was shot and killed at Apt. 309, 1 Flemington Rd.
23. On July 30, Umathevan Thiyagarajah, 26, was gunned down in the parking lot of a plaza at 3420 Finch Ave. E. A 21-year-old male was beaten in the clash.
24. On July 31, Dwayne Taylor, 21, was shot in full view of surveillance cameras at Dundas Square, during Caribana. Charged with first-degree murder in his death is Ajine Stewart, 25.
25. On Aug. 3, Giancarlo Savino, 21, was shot and killed in a drive-by at 50 John Garland Blvd. A 31-year-old man was also shot, but survived.
26. On Aug. 5, Melbourne Glendon Whittick, 27, was shot to death outside the front gate of 51 Morecambe Gate.
27 & 28. On Aug. 7, Ali Mahamud Ali, 27, and Mohammed Loyan Ahmed, 23, were gunned down on the northwest corner of Homewood Avenue and Maitland Place after leaving the Phoenix Nightclub.
29. On Aug. 13, Syed Sarfaraz Ul Hassan Shah, 28, was shot to death in Raymore Park.
30. On Aug. 15, Omar McLeod, 23, was gunned down in the eastbound lane of Wellesley Street at Sherbourne Street.
31. On Aug. 16, Tate Best, 27, was shot at 17 Rochefort Dr.
32. On Aug. 25, Delroy Daring, 41, a convicted drug-dealer who hosted an anti-violence event just before his death was shot to death on the basketball court at 3171 Eglinton Ave. E.
33. On Aug. 30, Jason Huxtable, 18, was shot to death inside a parked car on Magellan Drive, south of 1901 Sheppard Ave. W. Charged with second-degree murder is a 15-year-old boy.
34. On Sept. 8, Rommel Molina, 21, was shot and killed in Upwood Park, reportedly because he refused to give a pair of teens a cigarette. Charged with second-degree murder are Troy Palmer, 18, and a 16-year-old male.
35. On Sept. 9, Imtiaz Khan, 27, was shot and killed in the fourth floor stairwell at 25 Bishop Tutu Blvd. A 34-year-old man was also injured. Charged with first-degree murder are: Neon Daneyon Jemmott, 28, and Jason David Browne, 32.
36. On Sept. 10, Andre Malik Burnett, 24, was shot to death on a footbridge near Driftwood Avenue and Jane Street.
37. On Sept. 13, Sureshkumar Kanagaratnam, 28, was gunned down in the parking lot of the York Woods Plaza at 2857 Jane St.
38. On Sept. 16, Rondell Calliste, 20, was shot and killed in a parkette at King Street and 100 Close Ave.
39, 40, & 41. On Sept. 16, four men where involved in a shootout in a parking lot near 75 Tandridge Crescent. Joseph Santos, 25, Donald Rawluck, 24, and Shane James, 26, died. Police believe Santos killed Rawluck. A fourth man, Matthew Scott, 28, is charged with second-degree murder in the deaths of Santos and James.
42. On Oct. 22, Brandon Archibald-Sterling, 22, was shot to death in the driveway of Unit 20 at 9 Kendleton Dr.
43 & 44. On Oct. 23, Aleem Rehmtulla, 26, and Fahim Talakshi, 25, were shot in a vehicle at Finch Avenue West and Martingrove Road.
45. On Nov. 1, Hasely McLean, 28, was gunned down at his home, Unit 25, 51 Morecambe Gate.
46. On Nov. 9, Jamal Hemmings, 17, was shot to death in a parking lot on the south side of Eglinton Avenue, just west of Oakwood Avenue. Another teen was gunned down at Hemmings funeral nine days later.
47. On Nov. 12, Mario Pereira, 28, was shot and killed in the laneway behind 122 Rosethorn Ave. Pereira’s brothers, aged 22 and 24, were wounded. Andre Riquelme, 19, is wanted for first-degree murder.
48. On Nov. 18, Amon Beckles, 18, was shot to death at the funeral of a friend who had been shot nine days earlier.
49. On Nov. 29, Corey John, 24, was gunned down on Perth Avenue, north of Bloor Street. No arrests have been made.
50. On Dec. 1, part-time used-car salesman Sepehr (Danny) Fatulahzadeh-Rabti, 25, was shot to death by two men after a fight at his family’s car lot at 4877 Steeles Ave. W. Charged with second-degree murder is Jodie Alistaire Wheatle, 20. Police are seeking a second 19-year-old.
51. On Dec. 23, Cordell Charles Skinner, 25, was gunned down on the grounds of 5 Turf Grassway.
52. On Dec. 26, Jane Creba, 15, was shot and killed while Boxing Day shopping with her mother and sister on Yonge Street near Elm. Six others were injured. Two teens have been arrested in connection with the shootout, but neither has been charged with Creba’s murder.
