Shel Israel is launching his new book, Twitterville, in Canada at Third Tuesday meetups in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
Three years ago, Shel co-authored Naked Conversations with Robert Scoble. Naked Conversations was a must-read book in 2006. It captured the zeitgeist of the blogosphere.
Now Shel Israel is back with Twitterville, his look at Twitter and how it is being used by people and organizations to connect, play, share, create community, organize…. You name it and we’re finding a way to do it on Twitter.
Shel was the very first speaker at the inaugural Third Tuesday in 2006. So, launching Twitterville at Third Tuesday is like Shel coming home.
I had a chance to read an early draft of Twitterville. It’s a great read. Packed with interesting stories of real people using Twitter today. It drove home to me that we are still in early days of understanding the implications of social media and applying the new technologies to achieve the things we want to do. And it sparked my imagination, giving me ideas about how I can use Twitter and other social media in my own business and life.

A Word About Admission
We're asking attendees to pay a $10 admission fee to reserve a space at this month's Third Tuesday. When we introduced this fee at the June Third Tuesday Toronto and Third Tuesday Ottawa, we dramatically reduced the no-show rate. Having an accurate sense of how many people will attend helps the event venue to have just the right number of staff for our event.

The admission fee will be refunded to any students who present their student card at the registration desk.

THIRD TUESDAY is a free monthly meetup for Toronto area communications and marketing folks interested in learning/sharing more about the practical applications of social media in business.
Third Tuesday meetups typically include a guest speaker who talks (for about an hour) with the group about different social media technologies and trends ranging from corporate blogs and business podcasts, to influencer marketing and online WOM techniques — and how these things apply to PR and marketing programs. We really try to encourage group discussion and learning, and we do this by keeping our meetups very casual and open, but focused too so that our members walk away with new insights and actionable ideas for their businesses.
Third Tuesday is also an opportunity to simply network with industry peers, to share knowledge, experiences and perhaps a few laughs and drinks too.
