Wychwood TTC Streetcar Repair Barns

Numerous media reports citing "Mid-1980s" as the date of when the TTC stopped using the site are likely wrong.

Trolley Buses were patched up at the barns until 1991.

CIS equipment was installed in all streetcars and buses there between 1990 and 1991.

The last trolley buses were stored inside the barns until 1994

The last PCC Streetcars were stored inside the barns until the spring of 1996

"Robert Lubinsky" had an occasion to be inside the barn in 1989, and says, "...[t]he TTC still had a security person posted there, basically sitting in the office and walking around every once in a while."

Barn facilities were still in good condition as repair workers were still using it daily. It wasn't until the TTC actually stopped using the property in 1998 that one could say the barns were truly "abandoned".

On November 20, 2008, the site officially will re-open as the Artscape Wychwood Barns.
