Catching fish for food or for sport is something that can be done within the City of Toronto. There are many good places to go fishing in the city. These places include:
- Lake Ontario - off shore (in a boat)
- Marie Curtis Park at Lakeshore Road East east of Dixie Road
- Colonel Samuel Smith Park at Kipling Avenue south of Lakeshore Blvd. W
- Humber Bay Park at Park Lawn Road south of Lakeshore Blvd. W
- Summerlea Park - Albion Road east of Islington Avenue
- Centennial Park - Centennial Park Blvd south of Eglinton Avenue W. Only carp.
- Humber River Marshes just upstream from the mouth of the river, difficult to access without a boat or friends with houses that back onto the River
- Grenadier Pond - in High Park at High Park Blvd. west of Parkside Drive located on the south west side of High Park. The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority have been undertaking some work to improve fish habitat through shoreline restoration projects and adding fish furniture.
- Toronto Islands - take ferry from foot of Bay Street
- Tommy Thompson Park aka the Leslie Street Spit - Lakeshore Blvd E at the foor of Leslie Street. Open to the public on weekends only. This is a man made spit constructed from the guts of the City (clean fill consisting of demolished buildings and soil dug out from foundations for new buildings).
- Ashbridge's Bay Park - Coxwell Avenue south of Lakeshore Blvd E
- Lower Humber River - Etienne Brule Park north of Bloor Street up to Eglinton Avenue. In the fall (around the time of Thanksgiving weekend) the salmon are running and can be seen jumping the first weir upstream from the mouth of the River, located in Etienne Brule Park.
