HISTORY

El Charro Café has been serving guests in Tucson since 1922. El Charro has four locations in Tucson. There is also another restaurant run by the same people called, Charro Steak, which is located in Downtown Tucson. The first El Charro Café is the original location which is located in downtown at 311 N Court Ave. There are also locations in Oro Valley, Ventana, and the Tucson International Airport. El Charro Café is one of the oldest restaurants, and it is special because the same family has run this restaurant after all of these years. This restaurant is known for its authentic Mexican food with some Sonoran flavors. El Charro Café has been mentioned in several magazines for its tasty food. According to the restaurant’s website, the orginial chef owner, Tia Monica Flin, created the first “Chimichanga”. A Chimichanga is essentially a fried burrito. The woman with the current title as chef is Flin’s great grandniece, Carlotta Flores. Flores and her family continue to keep the El Charro locations a success as they continue to be recognized in numerous magazines for their delicious Mexican food.

The interior is simple, cute, and casual. This is a great restaurant that I enjoy bringing my family to when they come to visit because it is a great example of delicious Mexican food in Tucson. I understand why El Charro has the reputation that it does because of its consistency.
