The produce section of the now defunct Woodbury Rainbow.Rainbow was a grocery store located in the metro area. Shortly before closing there were 32 stores in the metro area. Rainbow operated under the Roundy's Supermarkets brand. The Roundy's Supermarkets brand was founded in 1872 in Wisconsin. Roundy's had a total of 154 stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In Wisconsin, they're called Pick 'n Save and Copps.
Rainbow offered several deals, including the Roundy fuel rewards card. You could get points on every purchase and once you reached $50 in groceries, you would receive a five cents off per gallon of gas voucher. The vouchers expired every three months allowing you to accumulate multiple cents off per gallon. Each redemption was limited to 20 gallons of gas.
Rainbow also offered double coupons on Wednesdays and sometimes other days throughout the year, mostly Saturdays. Only manufacturer coupons up to $1 were doubled. You were required to have $25 worth of purchases and were limited to 5 manufacturer coupons per transaction. From time to time they offered a "double double daze" where they would accept up to 10 manufacturer coupons.
Downsides of Rainbow included their lack of stock by the end of the week (mostly on items for sale) and the extensive lines on coupon days.
