This Citibank location is on the first floor of an office building that was built in the early 70's. When it first opened it was a San Francisco Federal Savings branch. It was then bought by First Nationwide Bank. Then the name was changed to California Federal due to a merger between California Federal and First Nationwide. Eventually Citibank bought Cal Fed's parent company and the bank was renamed Citibank. The former location of Citibank in another part of downtown closed and all services were merged into this location due this location's larger parking capacity.

Originally this location had a small parking lot behind the building and a large hill that was over three stories high which also had a parking lot on top of it. A person could walk from the third story of the building to the parking lot on the top of the hill. The hill was removed in the early 2000's to make way for Century Theatres and the back parking lot was removed to make a parking garage and a Cost Plus store as well as the rest of Olympia Place.
