Silver Moon Saloon is an award-winning, dive bar opened by Vicki Moore and Richard Emmett in 2003. Both Moore and Emmett also opened up the now-defunct Winston-Salem music venue, The Garage. Emmett recently opened up The Ramkat, a music venue located on the corner of Trade St. and Martin Luther King Blvd. in Winston-Salem.

History: Located in the Arts District of downtown Winston-Salem, Silver Moon has been a main hub for socialization and culture for 15 years. Winston-Salem's downtown was relatively dead by the 1990's, without much growth or many profitable businesses. Silver Moon was integral to the ultimate growth and popularization of the downtown area over the past 15 years, through getting people to venture into a downtown that did not have much to offer at the time. A downtown that in 2003 had five or six bars and a few restaurants, now has over 25 bars and many successful restaurants. Silver Moon remains one of the most popular hot spots in Winston-Salem.

Atmosphere: Silver moon has a relatively small indoor area, with limited seating (about six bar-stools), however, the outdoor area is where the charm is at. Especially in warmer weather, you will find many people hanging out on the deck area, "people watching" on Trade. A full bar is available, with three rotating draft beers and a wide selection of canned and bottled beers, from the staple, Pabst Blue Ribbon to Founder's All Day IPA, and even specialty releases, such as Foothills Sexual Chocolate.

Events: During the warmer months, Silver Moon has musical events on the back patio. These events happen every Thursday (spring and summer), around 9pm. To check the event schedule, click here. On Sundays, you can purchase what is considered to be the best Bloody Mary in the Triad.

Hours: Open daily from 4pm-2am.
