Third Street (also spelled 3rd Street) becomes Palm Avenue when it passes north of Beamer Street and becomes Coloma Way when it passes south of Granada Drive. Together, these three streets form a thoroughfare from the northern border of Woodland all the way beyond the south edge of town. Third Street is the middle segment of this thoroughfare.

In order from north to south between Beamer Street and Granada Drive, 3rd Street intersects all of the following:

Along the way, it passes by the Yolo County Public Defender's Office, the Yolo County Probation DepartmentU.S. Post Office, the Woodland Daily Democrat office, Savory Café, and Thai Pepper.

Third Street has been planted with street trees by the city. The street trees include five invasive weed species: Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), Purple-leaf Plum/Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera), Flowering Pear/Callery Pear (Pyrus calleryana 'Redspire'), Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia 'Purple Robe'), and Chinese Tallow Tree (Triadica sebifera). However, three tree species native to Woodland are also planted as street trees on 3rd Street: Western Sycamore (Platanus racemosa), Interior Live Oak (Quercus wislizeni). and California Bay Laurel (Umbellularia californica). Additionally, Modesto Ash/Arizona Ash is planted as a street tree on 3rd Street and is native to other parts of California.
