7-Eleven is the largest chain of stores in the world (by number of physical locations), having exceeded McDonald's in 2007. It now has more than 78,029 convenience stores in nineteen countries. Though founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1927, it is now owned by Seven & I Holdings Co. of Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It currently has two locations in Woodland.
Although the name 7-Eleven originally referred to the stores' open hours, all 7-Eleven franchises are now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
