Places to see native plants in the wild

Most of Yolo County has been dramatically altered from its original state. However, there are still places where you can see native plants. These places are very rare, much rarer than places where you can find native wildlife, but a few sites—some of the finest in Yolo County—are found in Woodland's city limits. We even have a few Federally Endangered, rare species!

Native grasslands and vernal pools

Mavis Henson Field is a beautifully maintained habitat that has great vernal pool plants, including at least two extremely rare plant species.

Parks

Ferns Park has a native plant garden with signs to identify the plants.

The Woodland Regional Park Preserve is a 160-acre nature park dedicated to educating the public about the wetland, plant, and wildlife resources on the site.
