Village Harvest is a non-profit volunteer organization based out of the Bay Area that harvests fruit from backyards and small orchards, then passes it along to local food service agencies who feed the hungry. This organization also provides education on fruit tree care, harvesting and food preservation.

Since its founding in 2001, Village Harvest has grown to be one of the oldest and largest organizations of this kind in the country, harvesting a total of 2 Million servings of nutritious fresh fruit for the community. (Text adapted from http://villageharvest.org)

Village Harvest-Woodland

In 2010, Village Harvest-Woodland began harvesting excess fruits and vegetables in the Woodland area, which are then donated to such organizations as the Food Bank of Yolo County, Woodland Food Closet, Yolo Wayfarer Center and others.

Village Harvest volunteers will come to your home or farm, harvest the fruits or vegetables for you, leave any you want for personal consumption and donate the excess to organizations helping to feed the hungry in the Woodland area.

How to Get Involved

Visit Village Harvest's main website and sign up to volunteer http://villageharvest.org/volunteerform.

Village Harvest encourages tree owners to harvest and donate whatever they cannot use themselves. However, if you are unable to do so, Village Harvest-Woodland can arrange a harvest at your home and donate the surplus fruit to local food service agencies. You may sign up by completing the online form for tree owners http://villageharvest.org/homeform or calling (888) FRUIT 411.
